Ligustrum vulgare

A vigorous native hedgerow plant which will grow in all lighting conditions and which shows slight preference for chalk and limestone. Erect panicles of small white flowers emerge at the shoot tips in June and continue through summer, before forming the clusters of small black berries. If you happen to keep Stick Insects, you will probably already know that the little chaps are probably the Common Privet's greatest fans.
