Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea'
This favourite tree makes a very fine specimen even just as a single tree, whilst planting in a group or row produces a magnificently striking effect. Although, like its green-leaved cousin, the Copper Beech will grow in shade, to develop the full depth of leaf colour, maximum light and sunshine is needed. These trees are customarily grown from seed, so that, although careful selection is applied, some slight variation between individual trees is possible.
